The production of the plates

The production of stone slabs (whether marble, granite, porphyry or other stone materials) is one of the fundamental processes in the architecture and furniture industry. In fact, slabs are the basis for making floors, wall tiles, stairs, and other design elements. Below is a detailed overview of the different stages leading from the rough block quarried in the quarry to the slab ready for installation.

There are several ways to produce stone slabs for paving or cladding; the traditional method involves placing the block on a base and cutting it vertically using a frame that mounts many parallel blades, spaced according to the desired thickness (usually 1 to 3 cm or even more).

Surface finishing is a crucial step in enhancing the stone, giving it the desired appearance and technical characteristics (aesthetics, non-slip, wear resistance, etc.).
